Fraser Forster Out Of Newcastle And Into England Squad?

Neil Lennon has said that on-loan goalkeeper Fraser Forster can push for a spot in the England squad if he stays in Glasgow.

Forster has been on-loan at Celtic for the past two years, and following the Magpies’ signing of Rob Elliot last summer it looks as though he may be heading through the exit door.

Lennon told the Scottish Evening Times (read the full article here): “The exposure he gets up here is fantastic and if he is good enough he will get picked, and we all believe that he is good enough.

“He is only 24, so in terms of goalkeeping that is very, very young and he has got great potential and a great career ahead of him if he keeps doing the right things.”

Celtic secured the SPL title with a 6-0 win at Kilmarnock last weekend, giving Forster a league winner’s medal and the possibility of a cup double if they make it to final of the Scottish Cup.

There have been rumours that Celtic are keeping tabs on Sunderland’s second-string keeper Craig Gordon. Despite not ruling out a move, he praised Forster for “making all the right noises.”

He continued: “We are hoping to speak to his agent and Fraser himself in the next few weeks.

“He knows we are very keen to get things tied up with him as he has had a fantastic two seasons here.”
