One of the north east’s most successful and longest running celebrity golf events tees off on 1 June at the De Vere Slaley Hall Hotel, Slaley.

The Youth Ministry Team (YMT) Celebrity Golf Day and Dinner is regularly supported by high profile guests which have included Alan Shearer, Ant and Dec, Tim Healy, Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall and Strictly Come Dancing’s James and Ola Jordan – all of whom have confirmed support again this year.

Guests also include actress Poppy Jhakra from Waterloo Road and Coronation Street, former former Newcastle United players Steve Watson, John Beresford, Rob Lee and Lee Clark, and television presenter, actor and musician Jonathan Wilkes who will be performing in the evening with his band.

World Golf Trick Shot Champion, Geoff Swain, will be on hand to amaze guests and ladies who do not wish to play in the golf can enjoy complimentary hair and make-up pampering.

Running for 10 years, the YMT Celebrity Golf Day and Dinner is organised by Father Dermott Donnelly, brother of Britain’s Got Talent and I’m A Celebrity star Declan Donnelly, in aid of the Youth Village in the Derwent Valley.

The Youth Village provides young people from this region, and beyond, with the opportunity to be inspired and achieve their personal potential within a supportive Christian environment.  Young people, regardless of faith, are also encouraged to use the Youth Village for their own community group retreats and camping.

In addition, the facilities are available for any group to use as a venue for group receptions, conferences and meetings.

The Youth Village, near Consett, opened in 2010 and comprises state of the art facilities for groups of up to 98 people.  It has 55 en-suite bedrooms within five large chalets, a games room, auditorium, spacious gardens, playing fields and a dedicated space for prayer and reflection.

Father Donnelly says: “This golf day is such an important fund-raising event for us every year and I’m so proud and grateful that it’s always well supported.  We simply couldn’t have built the Youth Village without it.

“The feedback we’ve had in previous years has praised the intimate feel of the day, and especially at the evening dinner, and that’s something we work hard to keep.

“I hope the event has a very special feel, certainly I always sense that it does.  It’s wonderful when so many people come together to play golf, enjoy themselves and help out the Youth Village in the process.”

A range of sponsorship opportunities, golf teams and tickets for the evening dinner alone are now available.

A team of four, including breakfast, 18 holes on the stunning Slaley Hall course, drinks reception, evening meal, entertainment and special charity raffle and auction, costs £650.  Tickets for the evening meal alone are priced at £75 per person.

De Vere Slaley Hall is also offering a special discounted price for anyone wishing to stay overnight
on the weekend of the tournament.

Teams and dinner places are strictly limited.  To reserve a place, or for more information please, contact Jack Williamson on 01207592244 or email [email protected].
