The Fear Of You Know Who Stealing NUFC’s Europe Spot
The Cup draw has made things a lot clearer when it comes to European qualification.
If we take it that Newcastle will not implode in their final few games and go on to finish sixth, then providing Liverpool come through their half of the draw, we will qualify for the EUFA league.
Man U, Man C, Spurs & Arsenal in the Champions League, with Chelsea, Liverpool and Us playing Thursday nights .
However, this scenario goes to rat droppings should Everton or God forbid, Sunld, manage to beat Happy Kenny’s lot in their semi-final.
You could just about cope with Everton making it to the final, losing, but then taking our place. There is an argument that playing a bucket load of extra games next season with our current squad could be a poisoned chalice. We could struggle to cope.
However, to see the Mackems take our place would be very difficult to accept. I think I’d rather see us put out a youth team to get tonked 8-0 by a bunch from Belarus, than see Sunld get the chance to play what would be a record breaking third European tie in their history
So in the short-term we need to be Everton fans.
It might even be worth a ‘Gillingham’ type influx of Geordies at the replay. I have a feeling there will be a few seats going spare.
