Shane Ferguson In The Frame For West Brom v NUFC
Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has said that Shane Ferguson is ready to push for a first team place following his return from injury.
The youngster shattered his ankle in Newcastle’s pre-season friendly against Darlington and has also been restricted by a number of muscle injuries throughout the year.
Ferguson last played in Northern Ireland’s 3-0 defeat against Norway last month and, after shaking off another injury, the Magpies boss now feels as though the fullback is ready to challenge for a start against West Brom.
Pardew told the Chronicle: “Shane Ferguson has a good chance for the weekend. He’s been out for two or three weeks.
He’s not played much for us this season. But he had a great game for Northern Ireland…and he’ll be feeling a lot, lot stronger for it”.
Davide Santon was left out of the starting line-up against Norwich this weekend, but made a substitute appearance as he is still settling in to life in the Premier League.
