Perfect Preparation By NUFC For the Derby?

The number of times Newcastle United have shot themselves in the foot in the past is probably unequalled anywhere else.

This time I can only give them a pat on the back for the orchestrated feel good factor this morning, plus the fact of course that both Krul and Coloccini did actually sign new contracts.

Once the whistle is blown at noon tomorrow literally anything can happen but what Alan Pardew and others at the club have done, is put the eleven players on the pitch in the best possible place to beat the mackems.

Fans will be on an even bigger high and I’m sure it can only have given the other players huge reassurance that it is possible they can satisfy their ambitions at Newcastle United.

Alan Pardew had this to say at today’s press conference:

“To secure new contracts for Fabricio and Tim, two pivotal players at the Club, is terrific news for all concerned, not just ahead of the derby but for the long-term future of the Club.

It underlines the importance that we as a Club place on building and retaining top class talent, and it demonstrates the intent of Newcastle United to be major players in the Premier League.

I would also like to place on record my thanks to Mike and Derek for their hard work and continued financial backing in ensuring these deals were completed.

We now turn our attentions to tomorrow’s big game, boosted by this news – which I hope gives our incredible fans a huge lift too – and with the confidence to really make this a season to remember.

The core of the team are now under contract for the next four or five years and we can push on from the successful season we’ve had so far”.

Captain Fabricio Coliccini added that he had signed the new contract because he, “…wanted to give the club and the fans something back”.

While Tim Krul  showed the kind of character we need at Newcastle United when rather than just talking about himself he said, “Colo committing is a huge thing to show the ambition there is at this club”.

So the core of the team is signed up long-term, the feelgood factor is at a massive high on the back of the new contracts, now we rely on the team to put three points on the board tomorrow and it will be a truly perfect day (weekend).
