Norwich Fans To Blame For Insult To Sir Bobby Robson?

Following Sundays match there was damage reported at the Sir Bobby Robson memorial gardens on Gallowgate, just down the road from St.James’ Park.

The vandalism was a vulgar image drawn on Sir Bobby’s face in black marker pen, which was cleaned off by Newcastle City Council workers this morning.

Liz Luff, who assists the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, set up by the former Newcastle manager before he died of lung cancer in July 2009, was shocked by the damage.

“I was absolutely furious to find Sir Bobby’s memorial garden vandalised. Someone drew an obscenity on the middle stone which was Bobby’s portrait”.

The finger of blame is generally being pointed at Norwich fans due to Robson’s Ipswich connections.

Whoever is to blame, this kind of trampy behaviour just adds to the cowardly mix of people such as those using social media to aim abuse of a racist or homophobic nature, as well as those using Bolton’s Fabrice Muamba as an opportunity to make hateful comments.
