A player Newcastle are regularly being linked with is Dutch-Moroccan midfielder Adam Maher. At only 18 he has scored 5 goals in 25 matches for AZ in the Dutch league and would tick a lot of boxes as a potential signing for Newcastle United.
Maher is only 18 year old but has made a big impact ever since he made his professional debut for Dutch side AZ on 15 December 2010 in a 2010–11 UEFA Europa League game against FC BATE Borisov and scored a goal on his debut.
He was the youngest player playing for a Dutch football club ever to score a goal in the Europa League and UEFA Cup.
I have read suggestions that he could be a replacement for Cheick Tiote but if you watch this video compilation you will see a real quality player with very high skill levels but he is clearly not a defensive midfielder.
Would love to see NUFC attracting this type of player but only problem is that other clubs have him on their radar as well, Maher is certainly though a player to push the boat out for. Maybe how we finish the season off could be vital in how we rank in terms of the attractiveness of players to move to St.James’ Park.
