I write this a day after we have beat Norwich at home. We scored a great goal and kept a clean sheet which against a physical, well organised team in the modern premier league is a very good achievement.

We are currently sitting in 6th position in the league and with some very winnable games to come, we are in with a very good shout of getting european football back to St James’ Park next season.

However, over recent weeks I have noticed that a large number of fans at the match are getting on the backs of some of our players, most notably Williamson and Simpson.

Now I agree that these players are not the most technically gifted players that we have in our squad and in a ideal world would like to think that we would be looking to add one or two quality defenders over the summer….but I cannot fault any of the players for a lack of effort and passion.

I think some ‘fans’ have forgotten that only 3 years ago we were relegated from the premiership without a chance in hell of bouncing back and now in our second season back we are looking strong and deserve to be a top 6 team.

Credit must go to Pardew, the coaching staff and the players for some magnificant performances this season and they need the backing from the stands to get them over the line.

WE ARE UNITED – KEEP THE FAITH

If people think that guys like Williamson and Simpson don’t deserve the Newcastle shirt, they should remind themselves of some of the uncommitted, overpaid and frankly poor players we have had in our ranks recently. Bramble, Boumsong and Luque come to mind.

I let someone else use my ticket for the Norwich game as I was so disapointed with the negativity coming from the stands during and after the wolves game. Atmosphere was non existent from what I could hear from the sky coverage against Norwich. Surely people weren’t turning up expecting us to walk it, Norwich are one of the hardest working teams in the division. The atmosphere has gone rapidly backwards since showing a marked improvement after we were relegated. Majority now feel paying for a ticket entitles a win rather than turning up to support the team.
