Newcastle Fans Ask – Lee Cattermole; Animal, Vegetable Or…..?

I’ve got a mackem mate (sorry) who claims that on his day Lee Rattermole is a great player and a classy playmaker who can run the game, not just a particular nasty kind of vermin that leads you to think of all kinds of imaginative ways of eradicating him.

Is this the equivalent of people claiming to see UFOs and ghosts, they can claim whatever but where is the evidence?

As we all know he was a major factor in our relegation season as he seriously injured Beye and Barton in the two matches against Wigan and his behaviour yesterday was laughable.

I can pay him no finer compliment than he reminded me of Vinny Jones, from the kick-off he single-mindedly ran after Cheick Tiote and then lunged at him with no chance of getting the ball.

It is hard not to believe that this was a pre-planned attack, done no doubt with the blessing of the O’Neill camp and hoping that as so often happens with it being so early the ref is less likely to give a card. The only fortunate thing for Rattermole is that the card was yellow and not red, he had to wait over 90 minutes for that one!

The final embarrassment was that even after the final whistle he can’t stop himself abusing the referee when the result can’t in any way be affected. Net result is a red card and now he is banned for four of their remaining eleven matches.

I would be gutted to have a character like him anywhere near Newcastle United but the final joke which surely sums up our neighbours is that he is not just a player but also their captain.

Enough said.
