Following the removal of the last St.James’ Park signage yesterday, as sure as night follows day somebody was busy with a paint brush.

Obviously the club quickly removed the artwork but I do wonder whether in actual fact Mike Ashley absolutely loves this kind of thing.

There is an old saying of ‘There is no such thing as bad publicity’ and is you have any belief in that, then Ashley is on a winner every time.

In purely commercial terms with regard to his retail business, whether Newcastle fans care or not about what he does with Newcastle United and related issues…is a drop in the ocean with regard to how they make their money.

Does a Manchester United supporting charva in Bournemouth care what Mike calls our famous ground, obviously not – he’s just wondering how many trackie bottoms he can get for his fiver.

Since taking control of Newcastle United, Mike Ashley’s main retail business must have seen at least a tenfold increase in terms of mentions in the media, whetehr it is TV, newspapers or internet.

Whether it is Newcastle United beating Manchester United, or using a crowbar to rip off the last mention of St.James’ Park at….St.James’ Park and getting slagged off by us lot, it all helps to put the name of S***** D***** out there.

So when we are slagging him off I can just imagine him rubbing his hands together and no doubt saying to himself ‘Am I Bovvered’?
