NUFC – Forster And/Or Krul

I was relieved when the transfer window shut and not just because the likes of Tiote, Ba and Coloccini were still in black & white.

I’ve got no fears that Tim Krul will suddenly start pushing for a move but history tells us that you never know what is round the corner at Newcastle United.

Going back to the sale of Les Ferdinand there was  a lot of complacency amongst a decent number of supporters, what’s the problem when we have the best striker in England/Europe/The World to lead the line. Of course when Alan Shearer then finds himself knackered for six months and you end up with Andreas Andersson flouncing round the pitch instead, you then appreciate a lot more that fine divide between having the sublime and the ridiculous.

So when the window shut and no permanent deal completed by Celtic for Fraser Forster, I thought it was a sizeable positive for Newcastle United.

Not having watched Forster week in week out like I have Tim Krul, I can’t give the same overview of his performances.

However, every club he has been at on loan have raved about him and a current record of 65 clean sheet in 129 first team matches is unbelievable, even if a canny few of them are in a league as rubbish as the Scottish Premier.

In the summer the ideal for me would be to convince Forster to battle it out with Krul and keep both of them, the last thing you’d want is complacency from your number one keeper, never mind an injury and ending up dropping down to somebody with no track record to speak of.
