International Football Back At St.James’ Park

Newcastle United have been chosen to host the upcoming Centenary Shield match between England and Scotland.

The under-18 schools international match between the old enemies will take place at St.James’ Park on Thursday, 12th April (kick-off 7.35pm).

Tickets are now available for the East Stand only. Prices are £6 for adults and £4 for students and juniors. There is also a £2 booking fee if booked over the telephone or online (

There is also a group booking offer of one free ticket with every ten purchased – only available by calling the Newcastle United Box Office on 0844 3721892      .

Each year, England, Wales, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland compete for the trophy.

The match will also mark 100 years of schools football in Northumberland, and it will be the first schoolboys international to be staged at the stadium since a certain Michael Owen scored against Scotland, in 1995, with over eleven thousand watching.

While any kind of recognition is pleasing such as this kids match and the Olympic Games in the summer, St.James’ Park should surely be a serious contender for at least future Europa League finals.
