Happy For Newcastle United To Be England Free

England play Holland tonight but are you bothered Newcastle aren’t represented? Well I say not represented but of course Tim Krul will be in the opposition camp.

I can honestly say I don’t care if Newcastle’s England contingent don’t get a look in, for all kinds of reasons.

For starters we don’t really have any candidates apart from the injured Steven Taylor, Danny Simpson is at best solid Premier League and then you have Ryan Taylor, Williamson, Shola….

Even if Steven Taylor was fit I’d probably rather they left him out as once players get dragged into the whole Ingerland thing it can be a poisonous risk for both the player and his club with tapping up and whatever else goes on in the company of people like Terry, Lamps, Rio, and Cashley Cole.

I’d be made up for Taylor but I just think it is disruptive for the player as no doubt they’ll then even more be at the mercy of our over critical press, plus it’s not like England stand any chance of winning anything.

On the other hand I feel quite relaxed about our foreign contingent heading off to their various squads, I think in many ways it could be refreshing for them to have a few days in the company of their countrymen before they head back to Tyneside for some proper matches.

Maybe it would be class in the future if we once again had an Alan Shearer type character leading both club and country but for the moment I would say.. thanks but no thanks.
