Alan Pardew nailed his colours to the mast in the aftermath of the disappointing Wolves result and second half performance.

Tiote and Cabaye both made welcome returns but clearly the manager feels they maybe just needed this match to blow the cobwebs away:

“They will be much better for this, you’ve got to understand that this is the Premier League, it’s a different level to the Africa Cup of Nations for Cheick and Cabaye has been out for three weeks.

We need both of them because they are top players, we know that. They have been brilliant against three midfield players in the past, but in this game I thought they got bossed a bit”.

I think these two are different class to anything else we’ve got and so relieved that the manager is in the same camp.

Next Sunday will see the two of them at their very best and just watch us go when they click together with the dynamic duo up front.
