Yohan Cabaye has been a class act since arriving from Lille last summer and capped Wednesday night’s top performance with a scorcher of a free-kick which killed the Mancs off so early in the second half.
Cabaye, or ‘Dreamboat’ as some have christened him, has now scored three screamers in black & white.
At Anfield, Cabaye was cheated out of the opening goal but made no mistake with that thirty yard unstoppable free-kick.
We aren’t ones to brag but in our Man. Utd. match preview we did tip Cabaye at 13-2 with BET365 to score anytime, the midfielder also made sure one of our other suggested bets came up as his free-kick meant Newcastle had scored in both halves which paid out at 9-2.
Recent matches have seen Cabaye definitely getting forward more, so we wouldn’t put anybody off backing him to knock in more goals.
As well as a being a quality midfielder, the French international comes over as a great character to have at the club.
Interviewed for the club website after the match, Cabaye was buzzing;
“It is one of my best free-kicks, I used to score a few in France, and I practice them a lot in training, but in a game is totally different.
When I saw the ball in the goal I was so happy for the team, for the whole of Newcastle, and it was an important goal.
It was important, not just for me, but for the team as well because it was the second goal and just at the start of the second half. It is a very, very good result for us and a brilliant start to the new year.
For me, it is the best game and the best win since I have been at Newcastle. I was very happy to be on the pitch tonight”.
