Just over twenty years ago Newcastle United took part in a football match that had literally everything, plus it made a bit of history in terms of the modern day Sky era.

The date was 1st October 1991  and United travelled to Tranmere, twelve goals and a penalty shoot-out later, Newcastle were bizarrely out of the ‘Zenith Data Systems Cup’.

This was one of the first ever matches shown live on Sky (remember this was pre the all new shiny Sky Premier League) and only the fourth time ever in English football that a 6-6 scoreline had occurred.

Throw in the fact that Mickey Quinn scored a hat-trick away from home and still lost the match, this video is pure entertainment, this video is pure Newcastle United. We bring you the classic action courtesy of The Mag’s YouTube channel.
