Demba Ba and Tiote – Out To Africa

Alan Pardew had been hoping to eke out his African star duo’s presence until after QPR on 15rth January but  both Ivory Coast and Senegal have requested their players report on January 8th , meaning Ba and Tiote will jet off for the tournament after the FA Cup clash with Blackburn the day before.

The manager commented; “Their last games here I think will be on Saturday. It will be Blackburn and then that will be it”.

So then we can just sit back and relax watching the African Cup Of Nations, enjoy watching two of our star players in this top class tournament, matches covered on Eurosport.

Alternatively, we can get the prayer mats out and hope Senegal & Ivory Coast get knocked out as soon as possible and offer extra prayers that the players don’t get injured or sold.

Worst case scenario (ignoring the really worst cases of injuries and/or sales) is that the two countries could meet in the final on 12th February which would possibly delay their NUFC playing return until the home match with Wolves on 25th February.

Demba Ba lines up for Senegal in their group matches as follows; Zambia 21st Jan, Equatorial Guinea 25th Jan and Libya 29th Jan.

While Cheick Tiote’s Ivory Coast line up against Sudan 22nd Jan, Burkina Faso 26th Jan and Angola 30th Jan.

Good luck to both players…and Alan Pardew!
