No official confirmation from Newcastle United as yet but it looks as though we might at last have found somebody to take Alan Smith off our hands.

Reports suggest MK Dons are going to take Smith on, with the club who stole Wimbledon’s place in the league ready to pay a substantial part of the player’s ill-deserved £60,000 wages.

A (MK Dons) ‘club insider’ had this allegedly to say;

“Karl (Robinson – their manager) has always taken a keen interest in Alan’s career over the years. He realised Alan wasn’t starting for Newcastle and put in a cheeky offer for the player – not expecting for one minute it would be taken seriously.

Alan is desperate to get regular first team action, and had a frank and honest conversation with Alan Pardew, who told him he had no immediate future at the club.

Everyone at MK Dons is thrilled and believe their new star signing will provide the promotion push they need”.

It wouldn’t have taken a genius to ‘..realise Alan wasn’t starting..’ or one to realise why he wasn’t starting if they’d seen him play at St.James’ Park over this long long four and a half years that he’s been a drain on Newcastle to the tune of some £20m if you include transfer fee  and the rest.

Top tip for MK Dons fans, back your goalkeeper for first goalscorer before you back Smithy!
