Match Preview – Norwich City v Newcastle Utd.

Saturday 10 December 2011 3pm

Anybody who has travelled to Carrow Road before knows what a nightmare the last part of the journey is by road, let’s hope that the travellers have something to ease the return trip.

Interestingly, Newcastle have picked up more points on their travels (twelve) than Norwich have (eleven) in the equivalent number of home games.

If it wasn’t for the injury list surely we would have every confidence of getting at least a point.

The question is, will the injuries tip Newcastle over the edge?

Maybe we do still have room for optimism though, if the emphasis is placed on attack. Obviously if Coloccini is passed fit it will be a massive help but the defence will have a different look regardless, whether it is with one, or two, emergency centre-backs.

Norwich play a high energy passing game and Gutierrez and Obertan will have vital roles in disrupting their play as well as carrying the ball. Up front Alan Pardew will have a difficult decision in whether to play Ameobi or Best or Ben Arfa with Demba Ba, or even Ben Arfa AND one of the other two.

Whatever route we go down it has to be with an emphasis on attack and that could suit the likely pairing of Cabaye and Gosling in midfield who are at their best carrying the ball forward.

Our suggested bets with betting partner BET365 this week are great value in Dan Gosling (scored 4 in 22 league matches for Everton plus 1 in 5 games for Newcastle) first goal at 20-1.

While with the emphasis very likely to be on goals we go for a sporting 6-1 that there will be at least 3 goals in the first half and finally a hope that the away form will continue with Newcastle running out winners after being level at half-time at 11-2.
