Opportunity Knocks For Sammy

A positive signing for both the player and the fans saw Sammy Ameobi put his name on the dotted line and commit himself to Newcastle United until 2015.

Things could get even better for the 6ft 4 (!!) winger as with Obertan and Marveaux on the injury list he must stand a very decent chance of starting at City.

For young players, opportunity is a huge part of their development and Sammy might well now get a run of matches that he didn’t expect so soon.

If Shola hadn’t got injured in the promotion season then Andy Carroll might well still be in the number nine shirt and £35m still in the scouse Americans’ bank account.

The rest of course is up to Sammy but initial first team sightings have seen him score a cracker at Scunthorpe and definitely gives the impression of not being short on confidence.

Will he make it as a first teamer? Will being a winger be the long-term role for Ameobi Junior?

What do you think?
