Just Sit Down And Shut Up!

As Mike Ashley kills off the ‘singing section’, what about the conflict when all-seater stadiums were brought in.

Using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, Mike Ashley got rid of the atmosphere creating ‘singing section’ because they were a bit naughty with their choice of words for him.

Following the Taylor report after Hillsborough, clubs were forced to remove standing areas and entire generations of supporters had to get used to sitting instead of standing. This resulted in many disputes around St.James’ Park as many supporters wanted to stand and sing, something that sitting down definitely doesn’t lend itself to.

In 2011 we are all still grappling with the same problems, can sitting down = great atmosphere?
