Ever since the shock news in January that Fabricio Coloccini wanted to leave, it has been a topic of heated debate as to what would happen once we reached the summer.
In the closing stages of the season we had the Telegraph trying to cause problems with claims of unrest in the dressing room between the French players and the rest but the results of our poll suggest the fans weren’t taken in by it.
Twelve months later I think we are again in a position of having a great nucleus of players and if that is built on then we could have a very good team. If though Mike Ashley’s core message to Alan Pardew is that ‘you’ve already got your summer signings, just get on with it’, then it could be a real disaster next season.
Coloccini’s future shrouded in doubt, Mapou still getting used to the English game and looking impressive at full-back, while Taylor himself always looks a better player with Colo alongside him.
In the words of the great Billy Furious, “And They Wonder Why We Drink?!!!”
Sammy Ameobi scored twice in the first half to put United two up and then a goalless second half left a final score of 2-0.
Good luck for the rest of the weekend, silverware here we come!
The media seem happy generally to give our French players the credit when Newcastle win and raise it as an issue when we get beat.
What do the fans think though? Vote now.
I saw a Chelsea fan interviewed on TV on his way to Amsterdam. When asked if he thought Rafa deserved any credit for being in the final he replied, “it’s down to the players, not him”.
Much has been said since the Wonga news was revealed but taking everything into account, we wondered how fans felt now and whether overall it was good for the club,
The player has been linked with United for some months and the French club were forced to make a statement in response to claims that the player was on his way to St.James’ Park in the January window. The statement name-checked the Newcastle link and said the player would be staying at least until the end of the season just ended.
