Reports Of Newcastle Remy Bid Accepted

loicremy1When a transfer saga drags on as long as the Loic Remy one has, you almost lose the will to live, never mind retaining any excitement that the deal will actually happen and the player will be a success in the event that it actually happens.

The Mail is now reporting that Newcastle have had a bid for Remy accepted, claimed to be £10m.

I think we’ve seen a few too many false dawns to make any assumptions that the transfer is over the line but…

When transfers like Papiss Cisse happen out of the blue, you don’t have time to look at whether it looks like it is going to be a decent signing.

With Remy we are having plenty time, far too much, to have a look at what Newcastle are apparently chasing.

On the one hand you have a striker who started 51 matches but scored 27 goals for Marseille in the last two seasons, then you have the player who has had injury problems and isn’t currently first choice, starting only 2 games this season.

The likes of Arsenal and Spurs have shown past interest with Harry Redknapp quoted £22m when he was at White Hart Lane, so if the player showed his previous form a £10m price tag for a readymade goalscorer could be seen as a relative bargain in today’s mad transfer market.

Maybe Remy will have been waiting for if a deal eventually goes through but one thing is for sure, Newcastle are desperate for more players on the pitch with goals in them, starting with a must win match against Reading next Saturday.

We’ve featured this video compilation before from The Mag’s YouTube channel but Remy does look a quality finisher, so well worth a look.

just now id be just as happy if we were told no,not that i dont think we need new players, just totaly sick of waiting and being thrown one way and then the other.what yesterday at carrow road told me is that we desperatly need a player of his ilk to help cisse out,and fast.he was nulled out of the game by a lack of quality support.obertan was pathetic again and el gago is more of a hardworking midfielder now who is important to our defensive abililty, but going foward we need something faster, stronger, harder, trickier.hope remy is the answer.

We need numbers in plus all strikers have lean spells look at cisse.I spoke to a french lad who is a fan of lyon and he rates remy very highly. Says at 10 mill he is a bargin and will be suited to the epl..Only time will tell.

I would prefer we went for a creative midfielder capable of player as a SS, like Henrikh
Mkhitaryan. Yes, he will cost a lot more (x2 in fact), but we would get
guaranteed quality and be assured of the goals needed for survival, not the mere chance to resurrect a wayward talent and maybe get the goals needed.
