Remy Newcastle Wage Deal Revealed

While fans have generally welcomed the signing of Loic Remy, there was much interest as to how the deal was done and who pays what.

It is now reported that Newcastle wanted Queens Park Rangers to pay a significant part of Remy’s wages but when Rangers refused, Newcastle had to reluctantly accept picking up the £80,000 a week bill, more than any other player gets at Newcastle. Interesting to know what the rest of the squad made of this.

The story on goal.com also claimed that Rangers would have taken £5m for the player but knew that this would be a deal almost impossible to do with the rape allegation s that continue to hover over the striker.

Spurs were supposedly Remy’s first choice but they were only vaguely interested and definitely not prepared to go up to eighty grand a week wages.

As for the rumoured ‘fee’ to secure a year long loan, it appears the trade-off was covered by the agreement to pay the full wages.
