Newcastle Interested In Troy Deeney Move This Summer
With goals a nightmare for Newcastle United, it is reported that United are showing an interest in Troy Deeney for a potential deal in the summer.
Newcastle are said to have had the Watford striker watched and Deeney is rated as arguably the best forward outside the Premier League.
The 25 year old has now scored 41 goals in 81 league appearances over the last two seasons and is attracting interest from other top flight clubs as well as United.
Despite Deeney’s one in every two matches striker record, Watford are all but certain to miss the play-offs which is likely to trigger a move for the ambitious forward.
It has been widely reported that Newcastle’s preference would be to bring in more young English players but with the financial limitations imposed by Mike Ashley, it is hard to see those players being picked up from other Premier League players.
You pay your money and take your choice but I’m guessing a majority of Newcastle fans would prefer a gamble on a proven Championship goal scorer than one from one of the weaker European leagues, especially having seen what a nightmare it could have been if Luuk De Jong had been brought in on a permanent basis rather than loan.
