Loic Remy 3 Match Ban Confirmed – Misses Sunderland

As expected the FA have not upheld the belated Newcastle United appeal against the Loic Remy 3 match ban picked up at Norwich.

However, the independent regulatory commission has upheld the appeal from Bradley Johnson who was also sent off in the incident.

In reality a yellow card should have sufficed for both players following this spot of handbags but the theatrical nature of Johnson’s reaction meant both were given red cards.

This is the FA statement as circulated by Newcastle United.

FA Statement

An Independent Regulatory Commission heard two claims of wrongful dismissal today both in relation to the Norwich City versus Newcastle United game on Tuesday [28 January 2014].

The claim involving Norwich’s Bradley Johnson was upheld meaning his three-match suspension is withdrawn.

The claim involving Newcastle’s Loic Remy was dismissed therefore his three-match suspension remains with immediate effect.

Both players had been dismissed for violent conduct.
