Coloccini Talks About January And Moving On

FabricioColoccini12Fabricio Coloccini has given another interview in his native language and explained how he sees what happened in January and how he is moving on from that, being lifted by the new signings.

In the video footage on ESPN, Coloccini said the following;

“I didn’t regret it because I think family comes first, I think I did everything I could and wrote it down in a letter.

Sometimes third parties don’t understand you, or contracts become more important than your personal life. I also understand though that this is what contracts are for, you have to respect them”.

Nothing much that we didn’t know already and despite the PR attempts at the end of the window to smooth things over, this latest Coloccini interview simply reaffirms the fact that sadly only Newcastle’s (quite rightly) tough stance on our captain’s contractual position kept Colo at Newcastle.

The most important thing though, as always, is what any player does on the pitch and happily Coloccini has put his personal issues to one side and is putting together his best run of form so far this season.

The fact we have added some much needed extra decent players in January hasn’t done any harm and Colo also reflected on this in his interview;

“Some good new players have arrived who add positive things to the team. With the bigger squad we will be able to cope with the Europa League as well”.

    Hmmm not so sure about the run of form comment, he was at fault for both goals in the loss to Spurs. Regardless he will be away come end of the season, lets hope that Cabaye gets the armband in his place – a worthy successor in my opinion.

    Much as our defence has improved over the last few games, I’m under the impression that it has been Saylor holding the back 4 together since january, and if MYM impresses against Metalist I’d give him a start alongside Taylor soon. Colo won us our Europa place, so let him focus on Europe and try to win something before leaving the big-time for Argentina. While he’s focusing on Europe we can have the other two – who look like being next year’s partnership have time to gel in the league. Taylor and MYM are looking to the future of the club while sadly Colo isn’t, so I just think we might have better luck with the other lads.

    despite his recent form…sigh…
