Coloccini Departure May Have Element Of Truth

FabricioColoccini24My first reaction when seeing the speculation regarding Fabricio Coloccini this morning was to dismiss it as idle gossip.

The thought that our Captain could desert the ship at such a time in a relegation fight seems unbelievable but….

Firstly Colo’s dad came out with comments that his son could return to Argentina for personal reasons and now today’s story in The Independent is claiming a move back to Argentina along similar lines.

There are now rumours circulating that Fabricio Coloccini’s wife has allegedly gone back to Argentina and this is the driving force for the captain’s possible departure.

On purely football matters I could never have imagined Colo deserting our potentially sinking ship but one thing that comes before football, or at least it should(!), is family and if Coloccini’s personal circumstances dictate that he has to leave Newcastle then it could be that whatever Alan Pardew can say won’t make one little bit  of difference.

The repercussions for us as football fans could be disastrous as Coloccini came through his rocky early days to be named by his fellow players as one of the eleven best in the Premier League last season.
