Alan Pardew ‘It Was Outstanding From Us’

Last night Newcastle United came back from a goal down to earn a satisfactory draw but the Newcastle manager felt his team deserved better.

After a really poor first half, Alan Pardew’s men did pick up in the second half, especially after the introduction of Davide Santon at half-time.

Alan_Pardew_Newcastle_United_NUFC_67 (2)Speaking to the club website after the match, Alan Pardew had this to say;

“Make no mistake, we were the better side throughout the ninety minutes and we should have won it – but to get a performance like that against this standard of opposition, a team who finished third in their league last season – it was outstanding from us.

We showed our commitment that we weren’t just going to lie down. They’re a strong team, a good technical team – but we were better than them and as the game wore on we got stronger.

In my opinion the referee let too many tackles go and he was asking for trouble, someone was going to get hurt or sent off and that was what happened. Unfortunately for us it was our captain.”

Not sure if ‘outstanding’ was exactly the first word to pop into my head…

While Shola took his goal well, it has to be said that the lack of movement or inspiration was shocking up front, until Newcastle have strikers available pre-season (please!) then any kind of preparation work for the new season has to be only half-cocked.

  1. Shola's missing pace

    I watched the game and we were terrible. No idea what Pardew was watching. If anyone wants to make some easy money, but a bet on Pardew to be sacked this season. Its absolutely nailed on.
