I hate to say it but a strong Sunderland could only be good for Newcastle United, there is nothing like competition to keep everybody on their toes and in the last thirty odd years you must admit the red and whites have let the side down rather badly.
NUFC News In Brief
So when I found out that many of the players at White Hart Lane thought at one point they’d got through I had to laugh. When you finish fifth bottom you have to get your pleasure somewhere!
Whether this move has any bearing on Pardew’s future, or the cancellation has a perfectly innocent explanation, it won’t stop supporters talking. One thing we can at least rule out is that Alan Pardew isn’t unveiling the signing of Wayne Rooney this Friday night.
Reports today suggest that Newcastle are interested in signing a central defender from Belgian club Anderlecht.

With safety assured after Sunday’s match, there does appear to have been moves behind the scenes as to Pardew’s position, that is if you believe the newspapers. It is being widely reported this morning that it is understood Alan Pardew will remain manager next season.
Manchester United fans also came in with a dismal 11% although you would have thought it would be much higher as they could be watching the match at the same time as they are doing it in front of the telly!
Despite Liverpool’s protestations, Carroll clearly has no (playing) future at Anfield and at some point the scousers/Americans have to accept a major hit on the £35m that they and Kenny Dalglish (best thing he ever did for us!) paid to Mike Ashley.
