Graeme Who?

Sir Bobby didn’t have the full backing of the board but they didn’t want to be seen to get rid of him, so instead they waited until a handful of matches had gone by and…. sacked him.In the realms of ‘you couldn’t make it up’ his successor turned out to be Graeme Souness.

The abiding image of this season will always be that of Bowyer and Dyer brawling on the pitch at home to Villa, only at Newcastle. The high point AND low point of the season was reaching the FA Cup semi-final which not a single Newcastle fan expected us to win on the day.

Souness v Bellamy

Issue 190 – 5 February 2005
Discipline, that’s what these players need!

Well I think what you’ll find is they need good management whatever their personal foibles.

Step forward Graeme Souness who went to war with Craig Bellamy and the fans certainly weren’t winners.
