Newcastle travel to the Boleyn Ground on the back of five straight Premier League wins, and three points this afternoon would mean we achieve, six consecutive victories for the first time since April 2012 – and go within one win of our record run [7] which was achieved back in 1994 & 1996.

West Ham has proved a happy hunting ground in recent years – only one defeat in 8 – and despite a solid start which took Sam Allardyce up to fourth at one stage, the Hammers have faltered of late and haven’t won in three.

Newcastle hope to have a number of first team players back – Fabricio Coloccini, Steven Taylor, Cheick Tiote and Emmanuel Riviere have all returned to training, though realistically maybe only one from the quartet could start.

Pardew will have some tough decisions to make, although I’d suggest there won’t be too much tinkering – Mike Williamson the man to make way is one possibility.

The unfortunate Ryan Taylor is of course ruled out but his knee injury is not as bad as originally feared, meaning over-the-wall could be back before the end of the year, while Abeid Mehdi has not recovered sufficiently from the broken toe he picked up on international duty.

Papiss Cisse is approaching full fitness so it looks to be a straight choice between 4-5-1 with Perez leading the line, or a possible 4-4-2 with Cisse returning [Ameobi dropping out] – the young Spaniard deserves his chance having notched 3 in his last 4 Premier League games.

Rolando Aarons is expected to train next week but goalkeeper Tim Krul is rated as very doubtful following a training ground ankle injury – unconfirmed reports suggest a one month absence, although the Dutchman will need a scan to confirm the extent of the ligament damage.

West Ham have their own injury problems to contend with and face the prospect of up to seven first team players out, although Stewart Downing and Cheikhou Kouyate [both knee] are expected to return after they joined the main group in training.

However, leading scorer Diafra Sakho [back] is very doubtful along with strike partner Enner Valencia, who has struggled to play any part in training or otherwise, since his withdrawal against Aston Villa before the break.

Which leads us to Andy Carroll – of course the striker has just returned following ankle surgery – completing 90 minutes at Goodison for the first since last April – the former United frontman is 11/2 to open the scoring.

Mark Noble is expected to be passed fit but Winston Reid is suspended and Alex Song is all but ruled out, having failed to recover in time from a knee complaint. Newcastle will be reunited with former Magpie Kevin Nolan but the midfielder is not the player he once was – his two starts this season have resulted in two defeats.

Now I know our run will have to come to an end eventually but please don’t let Fat Sam get one over on us …. a hard fought 2-1 win (12/1) as Sissoko maintains his hot streak in front of goal.

Match Betting: NUFC to win 13/5Perez to score first 8/1NUFC to keep clean sheet 11/4
