I Used To Like John Anderson…Until I Heard This On Radio Newcastle

I used to like John Anderson, I thought he was a wholehearted pro who made the most out of limited ability to become a consistent performer in the right back shirt.

He was signed just a few weeks before Kevin Keegan shocked the footballing world by signing as a player for us when we really were rubbish – ask your dad!

He also got lucky due to the fact that Newcastle spent money on a replacement right back (Malcolm Brown) who got injured straight away and hardly played, so Anderson played a lot of games for Newcastle and I have to admit, he often performed quite well.

This week I was unfortunate enough to listen to his drivel on the Radio Newcastle football phone in, which is aired each weekday at about 5.30 pm – Total Sport

I am not one of those fans who subscribe to radio phone-ins, I prefer to air my views on here. The legends radio show put me off from phoning in long ago, however Tuesday evening Radio Newcastle was more appealing while driving, than listening to Simon Mayo on Radio 2.

I was shocked however to hear the ramblings of John Anderson, his drivel in support of the current NUFC management and regime was quite frankly sickening. Anyone who spoke about protesting was shot down in flames in a manner as if their opinion did not count, Anderson is clearly terrified to speak against the club. What happened to the ‘hard man’ right full back, I was appalled and disappointed!

Some of his quotes are below;

“If you don’t support the team don’t go, you’re not wanted”

“Why are you protesting?”

“If you protest you’re not wanted”

“What has mike Ashley done wrong?”

And my own personal favourite…

“What has Pardew done wrong?”

So what gives non-Geordie and lucky ex-footballer John Anderson the right to tell us, as fans, what we should or should not do when we go to a game.

Fact is we pay our money and we are entitled to do as we see fit regarding our football club, when it comes to attending matches. I have to say Marco Gabbiadini almost agreed with us, while Simon Pryde seems to sit on a very wide fence.

Could it be that Radio Newcastle are terrified that Mike Ashley bans them and takes away their privileges  when it comes to covering Newcastle a United, whatever the truth, John Anderson has sunk very low in my estimation.

Mr Anderson, if you do read this please know that your sickly love of Alan Pardew and Mike Ashley does little for your status as a football radio show panellist. If that is you speaking honestly then you have little or no insight into what is in the head of the average loyal Newcastle a United football fan!

So please enjoy getting into the game for nothing both home and away, and the next time you pass one of your inane comments remember we are the paying public, not you, and our opinion counts just as much as yours if not more!

If you can’t agree with what the MAJORITY of fans are thinking, at least give them the respect of listening or accepting their opinion.

Incidentally, it is not only John Anderson, it has been documented in the past that proper footballer Peter Beardsley also won’t have anything said against Ashley, however he is on the payroll at NUFC so he has a partial excuse!

Get in the real world, take the club blinkers off and see the situation for what it is!
