Tim Krul Newcastle Exit In Summer Reported

To the surprise of nobody, the possibility of a Tim Krul Newcastle exit in the summer is now being widely reported.

The Dutch keeper turned 26 earlier this month and with the club a total shambles and that chaos undoubtedly a contributory factor to his indifferent form this season, then it would have been amazing if Krul was not thinking seriously about his future.

At St.James’ Park since a kid, Tim has seen his World Cup dreams all but definitely disappear, as he failed even to make the Dutch squad for what was billed as a significant friendly against France in their most recent warm up match for Brazil.

The media are reporting a source/sauce close to Krul as saying;

“Tim enjoys playing for Newcastle United but at the same time he wants to win trophies and play at the highest level.

“He’s some important decisions to make about his future and knows that if he did leave then there would be no shortage of clubs wanting to sign him.”

How accurate the sauce is, will as always be open to question, but for a keeper with undoubted talent the idea of staying at a club where clinging onto a Premier League place is the only ‘ambition’, you can only guess that Krul will have to think seriously about his next move.

With NUFC heading nowhere and his next possible chance of World Cup involvement being when he will be 30, the odds must be on Krul making a move now.

Whether all or any of the clubs linked with the Newcastle keeper over the recent weeks and months will actually make an offer is up for debate but there will undoubtedly be very decent clubs interested in taking him.

From Mike Ashley’s position though, Krul’s value can only have fallen from the high of two seasons ago.

However, just like players such as Forster, Carroll and Ba before him, the fact that Tim Krul cost Newcastle next to nothing when signed as a kid, means his sale would have added value when it comes to the end of season accounts.

…and if any of you thinks Rob Elliot is an adequate replacement then I’d be seriously worried.
