Sorry, I’m Not Having It Papiss

Sorry, I’m not having it Papiss.  I accept that the Wonga business offends a great many people (I am not one of them), I accept that it is skirting the boundaries of morality, but even as a non-Muslim I know that Sharia law dictates that it is against the practice of Islam to charge interest on loans.

Now, if that is the case, let’s cast our mind back to the many times that you were offside last season and ponder on the logo on your shirt that you wore as you protested your innocence (generally wrongly).  Virgin Money, the offspring of Northern Rock, but either way an bank that charges interest on loans and certainly not a Sharia compliant organisation.

Wonga may in fact charge an APR of 3,400% or whatever fictitious number APR comes out (effective rate for most customers is 36%, too much, too much by far, but not 3000%), but I am afraid that rather like saying I only object to mass murderers rather than people who murder once, it cuts no mustard with the Almighty (whichever persuasion of Faith you subscribe to).  In  fact the Koran states clearly that to take 1 life is to take all  of humanity, so to charge interest is to charge 3,400%, if I am permitted the analogy.

The real story I believe is in the change of agents and the pursuit of money (oh the irony).  Cisse is allegedly being courted by the Oil barons of Russia and has the scent of a weekly £100k+ in his nostrils.  I don’t mind that, the lad is not from Newcastle, he has no ties to the club, but he should at least be honest since he is apparently a devout Muslim.

Personally, I don’t give a damn if he leaves because truthfully he’s just not that good.  If we can make a profit on him, I will drive from my Southampton home and take him to the airport personally.

He’s not quick enough, he wastes too many chances, he isn’t strong enough and he is always offside.  He is a confidence player, and he will have streaks of luck, such as the one that he had when he joined us, but last season proved that he lacks consistency and if he is going to be a petulant ar*e then let him go.

I am too old and too cynical to put up with badge-kissing any longer; I don’t believe that there is a player in our squad aside from the kids and Steven Taylor who actually gives a rat’s chuff about the club – perhaps that is a signal from the top?

In 1988 Paul Goddard said he wanted to leave because he wanted to be closer to his family.  I can live with that, it strikes a certain cord.  Why is Cisse, a man who claims such moral fortitude, not capable of the same basic decency?
