Smells like team spirit at Newcastle United

At the Liverpool game with my father, we were delighted to see Ayoze Perez score late on in the game, secure Newcastle’s fourth win in a row in all competitions, moving us temporarily into the top nine.

Pardew had said it was only a matter of time before some of our performances would be rewarded and start converting draws into wins… he was right, with Leicester City being the first.

The team spirit in the group is looking phenomenal, as was the atmosphere at the two games when Obertan and Perez scored against Leicester and Liverpool respectively.

It is such a world away from the solemnity and feelings of dread and fear after the Southampton and Stoke games, with calls for Pardew to go and a lot read into what Ashley was thinking after each game.

The fans are right behind the team and United with the players, everyone eager for us to climb the table. With a quarter final to look forward too, things are looking up and it is brilliant to witness it unfold.

A visit to the Hawthorns to play West Bromwich Albion, a win (with lots of goals!) could see United go as high as sixth in the Premier League table by close of play today.

However, a top ten spot could and should be secured as a minimum if grabbing the three points, something unthinkable in September after Southampton took Newcastle apart.

November always looked a month of possibilities and if good form could continue into matches against QPR and West Ham then an assault on the top 8 could just be possible…
