Paul Gascoigne ‘Every day is like Groundhog Day’

Thankfully Paul Gascoigne has been pictured in recent days looking a whole lot better than when he ended up sectioned for his own safety after a drinking binge.

However, Gazza has claimed now that he feels victimised and the sectioning was an over the top reaction.

Anybody who saw the photos at the time Paul Gascoigne was admitted to hospital, will find it hard to agree with the former Newcastle legend’s assessment when he spoke to The Sun;

“I feel victimised about the way I was treated because I hadn’t done anything wrong to end up in there.

“The doctor said he had to section me so I got some rest, he sectioned me so I couldn’t do a runner.

“I benefited from the rest and they let me go.”

Groundhog day;

“I was doing well, but every day was like Groundhog Day, doing the same thing, and I started drinking again.

“I was going to the gym, going shopping and then going home. I just had a little blip and I messed up. But when that happens to me the whole world sees it.”

The only person who can save me;

 “I worked out that I have drunk for only one year in total out of the last 18 and that is why I am OK.”

“The only person who can save me is me”.

As always, our best wishes are with Paul Gascoigne but as he says the only person that can truly save him is himself.

His description of his lifestyle as being like Groundhog Day is very apt, any recovering alcoholic will say that every day is a new battle to get through.

Hopefully Gazza has at last accepted the reality of his life and isn’t getting complacent now that he appears to be in a good place at the minute.
