Reflecting on the team’s performance on Saturday Alan Pardew chose to pick out Remy Cabella and claimed that he was the ‘big news’ in his side’s display.

The Newcastle manager describing the playmaker’s contribution as ‘terrific’.

It is only natural for a manager to try and instill confidence in players, especially those who are finding it tough, but to claim that Cabella was anything but poor to average against Hull is risking ridicule from the forty nine thousand watching fans.

Every one of those United supporters is willing Remy Cabella to settle as quickly as possible and give fans a flair player to look forward to.

However, the manager would be better served by letting the player quietly find his feet rather than putting more pressure and the spotlight on him.

Alan Pardew;

“The big news in the performance was Cabella who up until today hasn’t really shown enough for the ability that he has got and he was terrific today.

“He took people on, he wanted the ball, showed character at the end.

“He’s never going to win a tackle by the way, I think our fans were moaning when he didn’t make a tackle, well he won’t win a tackle and I can guarantee that, but he was brave enough to get on it and take people on.

“You know, grinding his teeth to make it happen.”
