Papiss Cisse Names His Top Three Newcastle United Goals

PapissCisse45Following his glorious goal against Southampton last Sunday, Papiss Cisse has been reflecting on his golden goals in a black and white shirt, plus the one that got away…

The Senegal striker is one of those who tends not to score many tap-ins and with his style of tending to hit the ball early, it can at times go spectacularly wrong or as in the case of against Southampton, spectacularly right.

Asked about which goal he rates as his best for Newcastle United, Papiss came up with a top three;

“The goal last season at Chelsea has to be number one, then Sunday’s goal (v Southampton) would be second, then in third the one at Swansea last season”.

However, Cisse also was keen to talk about possibly his greatest ever goal but which was also the one that got away;

“There’s a famous story about my best ever goal when I was growing up and playing in a big semi-final in my town.

I was 16 and I took a free kick around thirty yards out, I passed it to my teammate and when he passed it back I hit a powerful shot

When the keeper tried to catch the ball he fell into the net with it and with the nets back home not been that well held down, the whole thing collapsed and the ball flew back out of the net.

The referee thought it wasn’t a goal and didn’t give it, by luck though somebody had filmed it and so everybody could clearly see it had gone in.

The ref was then notorious and not allowed to referee another match!”.

What do you rate as Cisse’s best ever goals?

Hopefully he will get another classic today at Swansea to beat them all !

    The best brace of goals I had ever seen was the two by Le Tissier against us at The Dell, until Cisse’s two against Chelski last season. Both were technically outstanding and simply spectacular.
