Papiss Cisse – This Is For Jonas
After coming to Alan Pardew’s rescue with two late goals, Papiss Cisse chose instead to dedicate his contribution to Jonas Gutierrez.
The returning United striker ignoring personal glory to instead talk about the hardship for the team and of course his good friend Jonas.
Papiss says he just did his job…luckily that job was up front scoring goals rather than the more usual right wing/full-back that Pardew has had him patrolling in recent times;
“Jonas is a big man and I remember my first goal here, Jonas crossed for me to score a fantastic goal.
“My message to him is to keep going, life is not finished, he heeds to be happy and to enjoy the rest of his life.
“I try to do my best and the trainer (Pardew) needed me and told me so yesterday – I just did my job.
“As for the gaffer and the fans…I don’t speak about that.
“The week was so hard for the players, losing four nil at Southampton was hard.
“We did not want to lose today and if we had won then we won – but do not lose.
“The team worked well together, played together and scored two, all the players are happy.
“I lay on my bed yesterday and thought today could be like my first game against Aston Villa, I said ‘I’d score tomorrow’ and so thank you God.
“Newcastle have to look forward and be strong, even two down you aren’t losers, you need to keep going.”
