Newcastle winger back running again as recovery gathers pace

News today that Newcastle winger Gabriel Obertan is back running again, eleven weeks after breaking down during the win over Liverpool at St. James’ Park.

The Frenchman pulling up sharply with a thigh injury that required surgery and a projected four months of recovery.

Despite starting to run again, Obertan still has around a month or more of rehabilitation before he can think about starting to get match fit.

His expected first team playing return is still set to be March at the earliest .

We still await to hear what the score is with Siem De Jong, who also suffered a bad thigh injury at the very start of the season.

His projected return was around about now but while the club have given updates on pretty much every other player, there has been nothing on the Dutchman recently.

Hopefully he will suddenly be unleashed on the Geordie public and we will see the player at last who was expected to be a key player in the new look United team.
