Newcastle United admit Rolando Aarons won’t sign contract

It was reported yesterday that Rolando Aarons and his representatives had turned down Newcastle’s offer of a six year contract.

Now the club have admitted that as yet no agreement has been reached and that talks are continuing.

Alan Pardew stating that he believes ‘some sense’ will eventually come into the negotiations.

Whether it is the player & his agents, or Newcastle United, Pardew is talking about is unknown…

“He is a young player who has a contract here and we are trying to negotiate with his team.

“Somewhere along the line I do think some sense will come into those negotiations.”

The reports yesterday said that the offer to Rolando Aarons was ‘only’ £6,000 a week.

Obviously a lot of money for an ordinary 19 year old but in the crazy world of football it isn’t the kind of figure a first team player would expect, whatever his age.

When players with nothing to offer such as Gouffran and Anita will be on many times more money, it is unrealistic to expect a talented player such as Rolando Aarons to sign such a deal – no matter how few matches he has played in the first team.

The writing was on the wall when towards the end of last season Aarons only agreed a two year deal taking him up to June 2016, the player and his agent obviously not wanting to tie him down for any longer.

Pardew and his bosses can’t have it both ways, talking of Rolando Aarons as a future superstar and then expecting to pay well below the market rate.
