Newcastle Manager Claims John Carver Victim Of Strongest Kind Of Overreaction

The Newcastle manager has defended sidekick John Carver, claiming he is the victim of the strongest kind of overreaction after the assistant manager’s clash with fans before the match at Southampton.

Alan Pardew describes Carver as being at least as much as, if not more than, a fan as anybody and claims he was [intlink id=”47560″ type=”post”]only trying to protect the team[/intlink].

The United boss talks of his assistant having black and white blood and hopes the fans will accept that.

Unfortunately for John Carver, just as Alan Pardew is inextricably linked with Mike Ashley, so Carver is tied in the fans’ eyes to the manager.

Alan Pardew;

“This is a guy who absolutely loves this football club, more than…and as much as any fan we have ever had.

“Trust me, he lives and breathes this club, he has got black and white blood.

“He has worked here for some unbelievable managers, Bobby Robson for one, he’s done every role at this football club.

“Do you think before the start of the (Southampton) game he wants to see the manager…banners going up, negativity towards the team? Of course not, he tried to defend that, albeit in the way John Carver does.

“Which is that way…and he’s apologised for that, that kind of slightly aggressive, for that is all it was, a slight bit of aggression.

“For me he just wanted to protect the team and I think it has been an overreaction in the strongest kind of form and I hope our fans accept that for him, he’s hurting more…as much as them, I won’t say more than, but as much for sure.”
