Alan Pardew Agreed Loic Remy Could Fake He Was Injured

It has now been confirmed that Loic Remy and Alan Pardew reached an agreement that fans and the media would be led to believe the player wouldn’t play due to injury, when in fact there was nothing wrong with him.

Loic Remy has let the cat out of the bag with the revelation in an interview with L’Equipe, stating;

“The coach Alan Pardew understood my point of view.

“We had nothing to play for and I didn’t want to risk getting hurt again.”

There were raised eyebrows when Remy missed the last match of the season against Liverpool, having returned three games earlier during the Swansea match when Luuk De Jong got injured.

To say Remy was ‘tentative’ in those two and a half matches would be a major understatement, unlike Debuchy who came back during that same Swansea match, exhibiting the same wholehearted approach we’d seen all season.

There had been major doubts cast over the length of time Loic Remy took to return from the original injury which was described as ‘minor’ at the time. Whether Remy also body swerved some of those matches when he was fit to play, is open to question.

When Remy talks about ‘…we had nothing to play for’, it just sums him up for me.

So the 3,000 Newcastle fans who put their money and effort into going to that Liverpool match – he obviously feels he had zero obligation to them, the same people who’d lined his pockets handsomely all season.

This is the same player who snubbed Newcastle at the last minute to go to QPR who were already all but relegated at the time, simply because they were offering a shedload more money. Plus of course the recent apparent confirmation by Harry Redknapp that Remy also insisted on an £8m release clause to ensure he would then move and get even higher wages due to the relatively small fee.

Then the player is happy to admit to the press that he missed the match instead of just keeping it quiet and letting us think we knew what he’d done, rather than having our noses rubbed in it.

As for what our manager had to say after that Liverpool match….

“Loic was injured and he didn’t train all week.

“He hurt his ankle in the last game, he turned it and if you see the video (v Cardiff) he is limping around for the last 5 minutes.

“It was a blow, if we had have him out there (v Liverpool) we might have won.”
