Hatem Ben Arfa ‘I Was Almost Crying’

Hatem Ben Arfa has revealed that he was ‘Almost Crying’ when he saw the welcome waiting for him when he arrived in Hull late on transfer deadline day.

The French playmaker also made a point of saying how important it is that his new manager wanted him, no prizes for guessing who he also had in mind there…

The now on-loan Hull player was greeted by nearly as many punters as he’s been playing in front of at Newcastle this season, having been banished to playing and training with the kids.

It may be a cliche but creative players do generally lift their games when they are in a good place and feel wanted.

After the ridiculous treatment by Mike Ashley and Alan Pardew, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some quality moments from Hatem Ben Arfa this season, in his new set of stripes.

Hatem talking to the official Hull City website;

“The welcome was amazing, I was almost crying at the warmth of it.

“I was shocked to see so many people there at midnight waiting for me. It was great and I thank them.”

“When I woke up on Monday morning, there was nothing on the cards. Then, in the afternoon the call came and everything happened very quickly after that. At 1am everything was complete and I was very happy.

“I’m very much looking forward to the start of a new challenge.

“The manager wants me here and that is very important. I’m looking forward to being back on the pitch after two months of only training.”

“There were many good players already here and then more have arrived this week. There is a very good squad here and I think the team can do something great for this city.”
