Exclusive: Italian Club Found That Isn’t Interested In Davide Santon

Against all expectations, our intrepid Italian correspondent has actually found an Italian club that ISN’T claimed to be interested in signing Davide Santon.

In the last three minutes alone, the Newcastle full-back has been linked with AC Milan, Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Lazio and Roma, but we have at last identified a club in Italy that hasn’t lazily been speculated to have interest in Santon.

Perched on a mountain in a village inhabited by only a shepherd and three of his goats, FC Goatio have confirmed they have no interest in signing Davide Santon…yet.

Connecting an Italian club to the Newcastle player must surely have been the laziest (against the fiercest of competition) of all stories in recent days, weeks and months.

Every Italian Serie A club that you have ever heard of apparently ‘intends to bring the young Italian back home’.

Ironically, injury and loss of form in the second half  of last season have coincided with an ever increasing quantity of made up stories about Santon’s return to his homeland, along with a rising transfer fee each time.

Summing up just how little grasp the stories have on the truth.

The reality is that sadly it wasn’t even a story that Davide Santon was nowhere near Italy’s World Cup, having picked up the last of his eight caps against Holland in February 2013,

A player with the perfect physique for modern football, who has pace and can go past his man, there is a much better Davide Santon in there than we have got used to seeing under Alan Pardew.

Can he get back out of his Pardew induced shell/tactics? Let’s hope so and that it is at Newcastle, rather than FC Goatio…
