Various media outlets are running a story that Newcastle could be signing an international midfielder in the very near future.
Twenty three year old Moussa Sissoko is currently playing for Toulouse in France but will be out of contract next summer.
Having been at Toulouse as man and boy he will not be on great money, though his team currently sit second from top, behind free-spending PSG, they are still only averaging sixteen thousand crowds.
With his contract having only months to run, Newcastle wouldn’t have to pay the earth for Sissoko in January, or indeed they could sign a pre-contract then and get him for relatively nothing in the summer, though there may be some development fees.
A first team club regular since the age of 18, Sissoko has already scored 20 goals for Toulouse and as a 6ft 2 all round midfielder he looks to have the profile to stand every chance of succeeding in England.
Numerous other clubs have been linked with the player, including Liverpool and Spurs, so his capture would seem to represent a bit of a coup if Newcastle can land him.
A signing who would definitely represent progress…if it doesn’t mean another player exiting.
Vurnon Anita has struggled so far in midfield and Newcastle are desperate for extra competition in the midfield, never mind taking into account Tiote’s African Nations involvement and his odd disciplinary problem…
