All I Ask Is Newcastle Fans Give THIS Team Patience and Time

I write this after reading many others, including comments, over the last few weeks and could feel myself experiencing two things.

Anger at how the club feels like it is being run since the time I started supporting it (1992) and annoyance, that many fans seem to wish badly on the club, both before and only just after the season has started.

They may seem slightly contradictory but let me explain.

This pre-season, I felt quite optimistic with the signings that started coming in.

De Jong almost single-handedly beat Man City in the Champions League for Ajax.

Cabella was easily Montpellier’s best player in an average team.

Riviere has only been displaced at Monaco due to Falcao and Berbatov arriving.

Janmaat was possibly the best right back at the World Cup.

Perez only cost £2m and was one of the top scorers in the Spanish B league.

Colback was a free from our rivals.

Ferrerya is a loan but from a Champions League club he has only left due to issues in Ukraine.

Compared to even historical previous transfer windows, this seemed a good crop of players brought in, but no world class signings like we used to sign in the mid 90s and early 00’s. Potential over established ability, something we have come to see and get from Ashley ever since he took over, but certainly one of his best windows.

However, reading the articles on the Mag, it feels as though everyone has already decided that we have bought rubbish, need much more investment, and need to get rid of MA and AP now, with these changes urgently needed.

Firstly, it’s three games into the season. We have won 1, drawn 1, lost one.

The loss was against the champions in a game we should have drawn. The draw was away from home in a game we should have won and the win was in a game we dominated, albeit against a League 1 side.

Yes we haven’t scored any goals but all our usable strikers are new to the club. We are creating chances and getting shots on goal. We have only conceded goals against the champions. We actually looked good in pre-season, other than against Malaga.

What it feels like is, like many fans and chairmen nowadays, no one has patience.

I am not AP’s biggest fan. I am not MA’s biggest fan.

We do need more investment in the team as we have surely paid enough of the debt off for some of the TV money to start going towards players.

Pards’ tactics and decisions are average at times. Why he doesn’t play MYM in his best CB position and the lack of use of Haidara I will never understand.

His treatment of Ben Arfa, although partly understandable with how he has acted, actually means Pards has failed to get Benny on board with how he works and therefore a failure of man management. Nonetheless, we need to judge Pards on THIS set of players, not what has gone previously. If by Xmax/New Year we are languishing in lower mid-table or below, then fine, but to say for him to go now makes no sense when he has just bought half the team.

We see so many chairmen pull the trigger too soon and it ends poorly.

All I ask is for fans to give THIS team patience and time.
