Arsenal forced into substitutions as try to manage player injuries for Newcastle match

Arsenal completed the Champions League job in Europe on Tuesday night with a comfortable 4-1 win away at Galatasaray, having already previously qualified.

However, Arsene Wenger revealed that he had to make a double substitution to try and keep two key players available for the match against Newcastle on Saturday.

With the two clubs level on points in sixth and seventh in the table respectively, the Arsenal manager admitted he’d been forced to take both Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini off at half-time.

The Welsh international has a hamstring problem while the Frenchman is having trouble with his calf, though Wenger is hopeful that both with make it onto the pitch against United.

Arsene Wenger;

“Ramsey has a hamstring but should be alright for Saturday, Flamini has a calf but should also be ok.”

While Flamini does a job, for me Aaron Ramsey is easily Arsenal’s best player and another two great first half goals reminded everybody of that.

If Ramsey were to miss then it would give Newcastle a massive lift as the injuries and suspensions continue on Tyneside.
