Another Newcastle Loan Deal For Loic Remy – People Say The Funniest Things

The breakdown of Loic Remy’s move to Liverpool provoked a canny few laughs from Newcastle fans at the player’s expense.

The fact Remy admitted he opted against playing for Newcastle last season despite being fit, something that most fans won’t forget.

Whether they ‘forgive’ may be a different matter and maybe ‘taking the pragmatic route’ might be a better explanation as to why two in three [intlink id=”45423″ type=”post”]Newcastle fans said they would take Loic Remy back.[/intlink]

It will be interesting to see what the French striker’s response is to the transfer no go, but a suggested alternative is surely one that won’t be contemplated by QPR.

In a number of players, including The Mirror, I have seen it claimed that Remy might come back to Newcastle for a second loan period. Exactly why would QPR have the faintest interest in going down this route?

The West London club will undoubtedly see Newcastle United as one of the clubs that they will be competing with from August, both in terms of not filling the relegation spots and/or finishing as high up in mid-tables as possible. So how would loaning your best striker to a competing club work for Rangers?

While I have little doubt that Remy doesn’t see his short or long-term future at Loftus Road, Queens Park Rangers surely only have two options – sell him or keep him.

So far, QPR have invested heavily on their defence with centre-backs Rio Ferdinand and Steven Caulker brought in, while nothing has as yet been spent in the attacking department.

A big factor in that will be what happens, if anything, with Loic Remy.

A year ago there is no way Loic Remy would have considered playing in the Championship when there was a World Cup on the horizon, while in QPR’s case they ended up with a net benefit of around £7m when you take the £2m loan fee they banked from Newcastle plus the savings in wages.

Back in the Premier League the stakes are massive for Rangers, as well as every other club, and they are going to fight tooth and nail to get any advantage over the competition to try and drag themselves out of the financial meltdown that still hangs over them.

Loaning quality players to competing clubs won’t be any part of that strategy, while we are then left to wonder just what Loic Remy and Mike Ashley would think about a potential permanent deal.

Maybe like twelve months ago we will see another coming together of two desperate parties.
